You’re the Scissors

I designed this hat for a friend of mine, and I love the simple and wearable aesthetic. It is a classic unisex design has a graduated ribbing pattern that looks great on people of all ages.

This reversible pattern is worked on the knit side for clean decreases.

The stretch accommodates many head sizes, making this a great gift project. The adult size fits up to a 26” size head! Yes you read that right!

Modify the overall height to create a looser or tighter fit.

YARN
Worsted weight yarn, such as Malabrigo Rios, 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 210 yd / 192 m per 100 g
Fingering weight yarn held double may be used to achieve gauge, or fingering weight with a strand of mohair for extra fluff!

DIMENSIONS
Baby: 16”(40 cm) for head sizes 15”-18”(38-46 cm), Child/Small Adult: 19” (47 cm) for head sizes 18”-21” (46-53 cm), Large Adult: 21” (53 cm) for head sizes 21”+ (53 cm+)
Adjust overall length based on desired fit. Suggested heights are provided.

GAUGE & NEEDLES
18 stitches & 32 rounds = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on larger needles
US 5 (3.75mm) circular knitting needles, 16” (40 cm) cord & US 7 (4.5mm) circular knitting needles, 16” (40 cm) cord and 32” (80 cm) cord OR double-pointed needles for crown decreases

Knit stitch, purl stitch, decreasing stitches
