I created this design in collaboration with Rachel from Six and Seven Fiber to showcase her entire 20-color tonal palette on mini skeins in her Soybean base, a 100% Non-Superwash DK merino. She asked me to work on a piece accessible to all levels of knitters, and I’m excited to have come up with this design that showcases a few of my favorite things: garter stitch, stripes, weighing yarn (yes, I really do enjoy this), and modular knitting. Each individual form is small and satisfying to complete, leading to a manageable project that seems to fly off your needles! Experimenting with the color layout allows each knitter to really create a personalized project. While the design uses 20 colors, it would also lend itself to just a few colors from the palette in full skeins, or also serve as a great way to use up other partial or mini skeins. The samples shown in these pages show 2-row stripes, but feel free to experiment with wider stripes or even solid colors, simply taking advantage of the variation that comes as a result of changing directions within the work.
I hope you CAN’T STOP WON’T STOP knitting this design!
