SKETCHY fills a hole in my portfolio that I didn’t even know I had: the giant pencil-shaped pillow hole! Believe it or not, my son and I sketched this design quite some time ago, and I’m pleased to finally have created the pattern. This fun design comes in 2 sizes and includes a colored pencil variation. The smaller size is great for make-believe play, and the larger size functions well as a pillow on the couch (ask me how I know!). The length of the pencil is easily adjustable for however much yarn you have for the main body color—after all, pencils get sharpened! Knit in brightly colored worsted weight yarn, SKETCHY makes a great gift for a student, teacher, budding artist or knit pillow enthusiast in your life.

SIZES
1 (2)
Circle diameter: approx. 2.5” / 6.4 cm (5” / 12.7 cm)
Overall length: 14” / 35.6 cm (24” / 61 cm)
GAUGE & NEEDLES
20 stitches & 26 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette in the round
Gauge is not critical but will impact final size. Aim for a firm fabric so that stuffing is not visible!
US 5 / 3.75 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm or longer for magic loop, or double-pointed needles or size needed to get gauge. After working all of the eraser increases, Size 2 can be knit with 16” / 40 cm.
Each pillow also requires fiber fill stuffing – approximately 40 g (200 g), or preferred stuffing such as rolled quilt batting.
Optional: 1 round piece of interfacing or flat plastic mesh to fit in the end of the pillow to maintain a flat end. https://www.joann.com/peltex-fabric-stabilizer/7477532.html
